Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Limited, the country's leading Utility Vehicle (UV), is working profusely towards expanding its Indian fleet and is developing a revamped version of its Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Scorpio, slated to be introduced somewhere around the second half of 2013 in India. Currently, the Indian UV maker is busy with the development of the upcoming 2013 Mahindra Scorpio at a secret facility in the country.

The upcoming refurbished Scorpio is anticipated to derive similar design and styling cues from its brother XUV500 SUV, besides sharing the same platform of its current version. Thus, Indian car enthusiasts may not get the esteemed monocoque body of the XUV500 and have to be content with the existing Scorpio platform. The upcoming new Scorpio is also expected to feature refined interior and exterior attributes, with special emphasis on the interior cabin space and legroom.

Coming to the engine specifications, the new re-worked Scorpio is expected to bear a revamped version of the much popular 2.2 litre version of the mHawk power-mill, which puts up a peak torque of 140 bhp and an impressive torque output of 330 Nm.

Evidently, the current version of the Scorpio is currently almost 10 years old and still is accounted among the top selling SUVs in the country. The Scorpio SUV contributes to the bulk of sales for M&M and the vehicle has reached another milestone in 2012 by recording sales of more than 60,000 units in a single calendar year. The solid statistics highlight the M&M's immense popularity and the faith that its clients have reposed in the company.

The yet-to-be launched 2013 Mahindra Scorpio will feature an extreme makeover avatar and will leave the Indian audience in awe with the successful UV maker's technological growth. The new product from the stables of M&M is expected to mark a new chapter in the company's impressive history and will carry the burden of carrying forward the envious form, which the UV maker is having right now. M&M is currently on cloud nine in 2012, as its two launches the XUV500 SUV and the Quanto compact SUV have been deemed among the most successful launches of the year.
