      The Swaraj Division of Mahindra and Mahindra Limited (M&M), the country's largest tractor and farm equipments manufacturer, has won the venerable and esteemed 2012 Deming Application Prize. The prestigious award is presented by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) and is considered as one of the highest honours on Total Quality Management (TQM) across the globe.  
       
      The felicitation ceremony will be held in Tokyo, Japan on November 14, 2012 and Bishwambhar Mishra, Chief Executive, Tractor and Farm Mechanization Business, Farm Equipment Sector (FES), will receive the Deming Prize on behalf of the Swaraj division.
       
      Speaking his mind on the new honour received by the company, Mishra, said, “It is a momentous event for the Indian tractor industry that Swaraj has become the second tractor company in the world, after Mahindra Farm Division to receive this honour, which is like an Oscar award in the field of quality.”
       
      Expressing his delight further Mishra added, “This is a moment of great joy & satisfaction and is the culmination of our collective dream and shared vision, achieved with immense hard work by each employee. The Deming Prize is a testament to the passion, efforts, and commitment of the entire Swaraj team. Swaraj’s focus on superior quality standards is the key reason for this honour. The award catapults Swaraj into a new league altogether and marks another step in its journey towards global leadership.”
       
      M&M’s Farm Equipment Sector is part of the $ 15.4 billion Mahindra Group and has been the leader in the domestic market for the last 29 years. The company has earned the title of being the largest tractor manufacturing unit across the globe by volume with retail operations in over 40 different countries. Reportedly, the Farm Equipment Sector of Mahindra Tractors Farm Division became the first tractor manufacturing company in the world to be felicitated with the Deming Prize in 2003. The division then went on to notch up the Japan Quality Medal in 2007 followed by the TQM Excellence Award in 2011.
