      Mahendra Singh Dhonis passion for Bikes

      Cricketers love for speed can be seen not only on the field but in their passion for bikes as well. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of Indian cricket team, has around 22 bikes including the Harley-Davidson, which he bought soon after the victory of World Cup Twenty20. He also bought batteries for some of his other powerful bikes from Australia. Kawasaki Ninja, Yamaha 650cc, Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme and TVS Star City are some of the bikes that the cricketer has. The skipper has said, “I love bikes, I am a speed freak”.

      The cricketer believes that cricket is not his only passion. Describing his passion for bikes, he said, “I ride mostly in Ranchi and at times in Mumbai too. I have 22 bikes now and plan to have more of them. But I have hardly been able to ride it in the last few months because of cricket.”

      Dhoni appeared in the TV advertisement for TVS Star City motorcycle with his wife Sakshi. This new commuter bike is available in a new edition with graphics, colours and festive themes. What attracted Dhoni’s fans to buy this bike is his signature engraved on the bike. The commercial was directed by the award winning, US based ad makers of 'Shor in the City' and '99', Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.

      The Star City commuter bike by TVS Motor Company is equipped with 109.7 cc 4 speed engine. It delivers power of 8.2 hp at 7500 rpm and a torque of 8.1 Nm at 5000 rpm. The light weight of the bike allows smooth cruising, up to a maximum speed of 85 kmph. The bike comes with a five year warranty and is reasonably priced, around Rs. 46,500.

      Seeing his love for bikes, the Jharkhand unit of Congress presented a motorbike to Dhoni along with a sedan from the Hyundai Motor India Limited after winning the World Cup 2011. The Indian team skipper was also presented with a Hero Honda CBZ. Indian cricket team captain was awarded Man of the Match and a Hero Honda Karizma ZMR PGM Fi. This bike has a top speed of 126 kmph.

      Dhoni owns a Royal Enfield Machismo and loves to ride his Yamaha RD 350 whenever he gets time as told to the members of Road Survivors, the Chandigarh Royal Enfield Club. Just like any other bike lover, Dhoni takes care of his valuable possessions and goes for a ride whenever he gets the opportunity.
