Featuring contemporary technologies like a SOHC 4-valve triple-spark powertrain, which ensures fast and optimal combustion, the new bike is far ahead of the original one. The unit is 50 per cent and 27 per cent faster than the single-spark and twin-spark powertrains, respectively. According to a press release, the bike features liquid cooling which enhances the engine life and stops power fading and noise. It further stated that “great performance across the entire RPM band for a true sports bike experience” is ensured by the bike that comes with a 6-speed transmission which also features in KTM Duke 200.

Sanjay Saraswat, Vice President, Marketing, Bajaj Auto, said, ”These sporty iconic motorcycles are a testimony to the company’s engineering prowess. The Pulsar 200NS showcases the next leap in technology and design and will set standards for others to follow. We are launching the first Pulsar 200NS in Maharashtra as we feel the state has played a major role in Pulsar completing a decade of dominance with 10 years of leadership in the Indian performance motorcycle market. It will be progressively launched in the rest of the country.”

Likewise, Vimal Sumbly, General Manager Sales, Bajaj Auto, said, “Maharashtra is one of the largest markets for the sports segment. We have sold more than 5,50,000 Pulsars in the state and are by far leaders in this segment. Earlier, the segment was largely limited to big cities but now it’s getting a good demand from smaller towns as well. We expect the Pulsar 200NS to do extremely well in this large and demanding market.”

The all new Pulsar 200NS is coming after a period of 10 years since the first Pulsar was launched and marks a milestone for the company. Bajaj has applied a patent for a new Tri-spark technology featuring in this motorcycle. The motorcycle is the first one from Bajaj's stable to sport a mono shock rear suspension with a gas charged canister. The powertrain unit which has 200cc at its disposal is built to deliver a 21.5 hp at 9500 rpm and 18.3 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm.

The Pulsar 200NS has a top speed of 136 kmph with acceleration of 9.8 seconds to reach 100 kmph from nil. It is the fastest small capacity motorcycles in the country with only 3.6 seconds required to reach 0-60 kmph. By aid of the Tri-spark technology this motorcycle delivers an amazing mileage of 58 kmpl at a constant speed of 55 kmph. It also features a brand new twin spar steel frame to be the smoothest handling bike in the Pulsar series ever. The company also confirmed that the gas-filled Nitrox Mono suspension enhances bike-handling, whereas, real petal disc brakes promises super confident braking.

The booking for the bikes has been opened by Bajaj at its home turf of Pune. It comes with a starting on-road price tag of Rs. 94,280 which is Rs. 85,273 ex-showroom price in Pune. The dealerships will start rolling out the bikes to the customers starting from 15th of June 2012. Other parts of the country will receive the bike in phases.
