The country’s largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra is looking forward to assemble its vehicles in the Russian market over the period of next two year. The assembly operations in Russia will be taken care of by the distributors of company’s recently acquired South Korean Subsidiary Ssangyong.

It is to be mentioned here that Ssangyong already has an assembly unit in Russia through its distributor Solaris, where it assembles semi knocked down units of its vehicle. However, Mahindra & Mahindra has shown interest in assembling its products through CKD (completely knocked down) unit route at this plant.

Speaking to the reporters in the National Capital, Mr. Pawan Goenka, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) President (Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors) said, "Talks are on with the Russian distributor of SsangYong on assembling Mahindra products there. It is at a very initial stage and we are in the process of deciding what products it should be."

The company, however, is yet to give a timeline for the commencement of the assembly operations of M&M products at Ssangyong’s Russian plant. "It is too early to say, but it may take two years to begin assembly there," said Mr. Goenka.
