The world’s fastest motorcycle, Lightning LS-218, had grabbed quite some headlines at Pikes Hill Climb during the month of June last year. While winning this coveted title, the bike had edged past the legendary Ducati Multistrada by a huge 20 seconds’ margin. Now, finally the time has come for the world’s fastest bike, to go on sale. The vital statistics of this motorcycle are quite mesmerising and it throws some light as to why this has been adjudicated as the fastest bike across the globe.

The Lightning LS-218 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 150 kW+ electric motor, which is capable of generating a monstrous power of 200 bhp. That is not all, the net twisting force output for the bike is nearly 228 Nm, which is exceptionally high a number. The maximum spin the engine can lead itself into is approximately 10500 rpm, both power and torque and the electric motor is available right from zero rpm. All this bulk up power and torque is capable of sending the bike into a whiz 100 kilometres per hour from ignition in a matter of less than three seconds. The top speed achievable by this bike is somewhat of the range of 350 kilometres per hour. The makers have claimed that a single charge can take the bike to approximately 160 kilometres (100 miles) on a 12 kWh battery.

Dual Brembo320 mm disc brakes have been employed on the front wheel while two Brembo GPR-RX CNC Radial callipers do the duties on the rear. Apart from that, the bike comes with regenerative braking system, which includes fully-floating rotors. Undoubtedly, some additional arrangement is required to control the world’s fastest bike. RaceTech fork with NIX30 cartridge internals, TiN surface treatment, billet aluminium radial calliper mountings and fully adjustable spring preload, compression with rebound damping has been provided for the front suspension. The rear suspension duties are done by Billet aluminium swingarm with linear Öhlins TTX36 Shock and linkage system with adjustment for preload, ride height, high and low speed compression and rebound. The seat height has been demarcated at 32 inches and the bike weighs 225 kilograms in all. With these record-breaking numbers, the bike is priced at USD 38888. If you are obsessed with speed, grab the fastest bike on the planet now.
