Lexus reveals information on NX compact crossover ahead of its official unveiling

Lexus has revealed official images and details of the new NX compact premium crossover. The vehicle will make its global debut at the upcoming Beijing motor Show set to commence from April 20, 2014. With NX, Lexus will foray into the mid-size crossover/SUV segment.

The premium crossover from Lexus will be endowed with the signature spindle grille, LED head lamps will be affixed in the front and daytime running lights will also be equipped. Rendering finished look to the exterior profile will be a set of 17 to 18 inch alloy wheels.

Side profile of the vehicle pays emphasis on the roofline that bends towards the rear of the crossover. The distinctive door mirror design and a newly developed door handle mechanism which will be equipped in the vehicle. The new door handle mechanism comes with a hidden key barrel and integrated lighting. Rear is accentuated by the L-shape combination lamps fitted with LED lighting found in most of the Lexus cars.

The company might give a sporty look to the interiors to match well with the angular shape of the crossover. Inside the cabin, a broad sports steering wheel and contrasting trims are expected to be seen. The roomier cabin will offer ample space to not just passengers but also to the driver. For the convenience of the driver, instrumentation, controls and HMI technology will also be equipped.

Powering the crossover will be a set of three motors; a petrol electric hybrid motor which will be equipped in the NX 300h, besides this a 2.0 litre petrol turbo powertrain will be housed in the NX 200t and a naturally aspirated petrol mill that will make its way into the NX 200. Each one of them will be proffered in front and all-wheels drive options. Engine line-up will vary depending on the market where the vehicle will be sold, details on the UK-spec range will be revealed later.

Lexus will equip the vehicle with inventive technologies like the Lexus-first wireless charging tray for portable devices; a new iteration of the Lexus Remote Touch Interface with a touch pad control; a Panoramic View Monitor; and a comprehensive multi-information display with a Lexus-first G-sensor and boost meter.
