Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country's largest car maker, seems set to introduce a facelift model of its WagonR hatchback any time soon. In order to draw the attention of Indian buyers, the auto maker has released a TV commercial, which shows that the front grille of new WagonR is narrower than the ongoing model.

The revamped model features a single horizontal slab at centre, which will provide a dominant look to this hatchback. From screen grabs of the TV commercial, experts estimated that the bumper of reworked model is also updated, which will now come up with bigger air dam and new housings for fog lights. The advertisement did not disclose any interior updates.

WagonR is believed to be a popular hatchback in the country from the time it was introduced. During 2010, the model was titled as second largest car sold in the country, whereas in 2011, it slipped to third position.

Till date, the company has sold more than one million units of WagonR, which is offered in petrol, CNG and LPG fuel options. With its ace in the hatchback segment, the auto maker delivers a stiff competition to Honda Brio, Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai i10. However, Industry experts believe that the mere providing cosmetic changes to the flagship model will not do justice as it is now demanding a diesel engine.
