The much appreciated Volkswagen Group seems to be very eager to give its customers an unforgettable New Year gift. The company has officially announced the facelift version of its new Jetta in February 2015. It should be noted that Jetta is Volkswagen’s only premium product after the discontinuation of Passat and Touareg. The mellow outside changes and enhanced insides of this new 2015 model make the long wait worthwhile.

The car had its world debut at the 2014 New York Auto Show. The new model has an old Volkswagen style with a different aroma of freshness. This is what makes the company one of the best in its field. Volkswagen India currently has just three cars in its portfolio including Polo, Vento and Jetta. In the past, the German company ceased Volkswagen Touareg and Passat because of the poor sales, though the evaluation showed a different future. As of now, the main premium offering from the company is Jetta, which got its minor mid-cycle facelift in 2013 for the Indian market.

As a customer, one will experience several changes in the upcoming car. Though, you won’t see many exterior changes, but the inside is a different story. Let’s start naming the changes. For the exterior, the facelift comes with a slightly bolder front grille that seems to give a flavor of the bigger Passat. Also, the headlights have bi-Xenon elements, along with LED daytime running lights. The front bumper gets minor revisions in the form of larger air-intakes and a modified design for the fog lights. At the rear, the car has Audi-like LED tail lamps.

For the cabin, the 2015 newcomer will arrive with a new piano black trim, a flat-bottom steering wheel, new touchscreen system and information available at a single touch and finally a revised instrument cluster. The engine options will probably not face any change; the same 1.4-liter TSI turbo petrol and 2.0-liter TDI diesel motors, which find a place in its cousin, the Skoda Octavia. This means, the diesel engine could see a rise in power & torque figures. It is expected that new maximum power can be around 145 bhp. Right now, the car comes with a price tag of Rs. 13.21 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the price of the facelifted version is also expected to remain pretty much the same.

The 2015 new model will, for sure, offer some resistance for some well established models, such as the Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla Altis and the Chevrolet Cruze. “Who will experience the taste of winning?”- This is a big question and the one for which we don’t have any answer.
