Land Rover, the completely owned division of Tata Motors, has been known for offering one of the best engineering and automotive designs in Paris as the company unveiled a highly influential presentation of an all-new Range Rover, Defender at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The showcase ceremony featured the backdrop the field agent Eve in the new movie of James Bond, SKYFALL™.
Paris is believed to be the first major international motor show, wherein the all-new Range Rover marked its debut for the public. The event was supported by a special celebration of the company's status being an icon in the global automotive arena. The motor show of Land Rover was over two press days, which showcased the company's exclusive model line-up, including both Autobiography and Vogue versions, with the complete fleet of engines. Event witnessed the 3.0 TDV6 diesel powertrain, which was offered first time in a Range Rover, alongside the 5.0 LR-V8 Supercharged and 4.4 SDV8 diesel engine.
The display podium also had space for the showcase of antique and special edition Range Rover CSK models, which was a two-door vehicle named after the honour of company's first creator, Charles Spencer King. The podium was also shared by latest generation of Range Rover, which displayed the evolution of vehicle's unique design.
Besides, the ancient Paris Opera shared Range Rover's celebration of introducing a new fourth-gen model, which was designed on its earlier predecessors that were available for sale from past four decades. The first generation model of Range Rover was introduced back in 1970 and the vehicles launched thereafter under its moniker were carrying the model's heritage with each new avatar taking the standards of performance and refinement to a new level. With the addition of an all new model in the Range Rover fleet, the auto maker can now confidently announce that it has designed the finest SUV in the world.
The 2013 edition of Freelander 2 was initially showcased at the Moscow motor show in August 2012 and made its second official public presence at the at the press conference. This new model has been incorporated with some of the significant refreshments, in order to add to the comforts and luxuries of its occupants. Some alterations has been also made at the exteriors of the model, which now reflects a sportier and dominant appearance, complemented with precisely designed front and rear light consoles. Besides, the company has equipped latest LED technology and has developed an exclusive lighting signature for the model with daytime running lights.
Along with these, the modifications made in interiors comprise three new colours trims for inner cabin as a part of new Dynamic grade, futuristic seven-inch coloured touch screen controls for music system, a brand new centre instrumental console, new options of navigation and telephone (optional). The model also houses a well designed powerful surround audio system sourced from Meridian, which delivers 825W of power with 17 speakers.
Other advancements featured within the model includes electric parking brake, passive start; ‘Say What You See’ voice activation and rear view camera with a distinctive ‘Hitch Assist’ guide ensuring a precise line up of tow ball with trailers.
Besides, the auto maker celebrated James Bond's 50 years at the Paris Motor Show with the display of Land Rover Defenders, which was showcased in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions and the upcoming motion picture SKYFALL from Sony Pictures Entertainment. The film will be released in the UK theatres on October 26th, 2012. On the second press day, the company also displayed The Double Cab Pick Up, which was driven by field agent Eve (played by Naomie Harris) in the opening sequence. Andrew Noakes, the Co-Producer quoted, “Bond is quintessentially British and Land Rover is one of the most established and globally recognised British brands, so it was a natural step for us to involve them in the film.”
With such an innovative model, the Chief Creative Officer and Design Director of Land Rover, Gerry McGovern, has been provided with two awards at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Besides, McGovern is honoured as leader in design in European auto market at the 2012 Eurostars awards of Automotive News Europe. Eurostars is known to be global business publisher of annual awards to individuals whom it considers to have contributed to the distinctive leadership in the auto industry. The momento was provided at a event hosted by Automotive News Europe's publisher before the commencement of 2012 Paris Motor Show on September 26.
McGovern was also provided with an other award on the Land Rover's behalf at the event. In April 2012, the judge panel of Women's World Car of the Year, provided a reputed Women's World Car of the Year award to Range Rover Evoque. The jury of this panel comprises ladies auto writers from 12 different countries. Besides, Land Rover Evoque was also provided with top honours in the 'Luxury Car' category.
The panel of judges, formed from 11 different countries, initially submitted their personally suggested short list and around over 300 models were recommended. On this, McGovern commented, “We are delighted to accept this award, which demonstrates the Range Rover Evoque's broad appeal globally. The Evoque has been a phenomenal success to date, having won over 120 awards in its first year of being on sale.”
