Tata Motors owned luxury brand Land Rover is planning to start assembling its cars in India from next year. The cars are currently being imported to India which attracts high import duty. Now, the company plans to initiate local assembly too. “We have seen a good response in India for our Land Rover vehicles. We will start assembling them in India from next year,” said Ralph Speth, Jaguar Land Rover’s Chief Executive Officer. The company will start its assembly line in China as well, as its sales volumes in China also had doubled in past one year.

Tata Motors Chairman, Ratan Tata, stated in the company’s annual reports that JLR also intends to introduce an entry-level Jaguar in the international market. JLR has already made a comeback and has started posting profit margins recently. Sales of Jaguar models in the international market have also increased which is quite encouraging for the company.

Tata Motors is fast becoming one of the leading car manufacturers of India. It has already beat its forecasts by reporting consolidated net profit of Rs. 1989 crores for the quarter ended June 30 against a net loss of Rs 329 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The JLR division sold a total of 57,153 vehicles during the quarter which is up by 59 per cent.
