Lamborghini showcases perfect use of carbon fibre in Urus SUV to reduce weight

Lamborghini, the completely owned subsidiary of Audi AG, showcased its Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), Urus at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. With this car, the company redefined heights in terms of dynamics and design in SUV segment. The exteriors of Urus are provided with a unique design, whereas its interiors are complemented with charming attributes.

Considering technical specifications of Urus, the car will produce an impressive power of 600 bhp, which will be further improved by its advanced lightweight designing strategy. Parallel to this, Urus will also deliver relatively lower CO2 emissions as compared to its rivals. As a compact SUV, the car has a seating capacity of four individuals with a multipurpose luggage compartment. The interiors of Urus deliver an unmatched experience to its occupants, since the car is incorporated with pioneering material that features carbon fibre technology, such as patented Forged Composite.

With the launch of Urus, the company will offer such a Lamborghini which can be used in daily proceedings of life. This approach will substantially expand the company’s clientele, since it targets families and drivers of Lamborghini sports cars who have turned towards SUV models of other brands. During the initial stage, the company will aim at the markets of USA, UK, Germany, Russia, Middle East and the China. The annual production of Urus is likely to be around 3,000 units.

The exteriors design of Urus has a unique look, which makes it appear big but not bulky. Length and width of Urus stand at 4.99 metres and 1.9 metres respectively. These figures make Urus a super athlete in its segment with a lowest height of 1.6 metres among all its competitors. The weight of Urus is also less, which adheres to the Lamborghini’s light weight designing attitude. In order to provide aerodynamic exteriors to the car, the upper rim of rear windshield acts as a deflector, which diverts the flow of air between the rear windshield and the adjustable spoiler.

In addition to this, the exteriors of Urus has intelligent three-dimensionality with sharp lines, large air intakes in left as well as right side, a clear arrow form and the Y shape in headlights. The design also features straight lines flowing from the hood over roof to the rear end of the vehicle.

The interiors of Lamborghini Urus have set new heights in the terms of sportiness within the Utility Vehicle (UV) segment. The interiors of this car are also designed parallel to Lamborghini’s light weight plan, and thus they are finished with carbon fibre resistant polymer.

Lamborghini holds expertise in the usage of carbon materials, which is clearly depicted in the pioneering technology of Urus. It must be noted that the centre console of the car is provided with a skeletal carbon fibre, which is designed using Forged Composite. Lamborghini Urus offers a lower and flatter seating posture than any other car in this segment.

On the other hand, this concept car has a unique feature of tremendously reduced functioning philosophy. Only the shift paddles are placed at the back of steering wheel for the dual clutch transmission. Rest all features are either mounted on steering wheel or are placed in the centre console of the car.
