Lamborghini has patented the Huracan Performante moniker in anticipation of a high performance version of its baby supercar that is expected to arrive in 2017. It is nothing new that Lamborghini is making a ‘higher’ performance model of the car but this is probably the first time that the automaker is moving away from the SV (Super Veloce) name.
It is expected to be a track focussed vehicle and will have all the usual stuff that make a fast Lamborghini even faster. This includes higher output from the engine, massive aero dynamics package as well as a slightly stripped out interior to give it a sporty feel. Much of the technology is expected to come from the Italian automaker’s GT3 race car which uses a significant amount of carbon fibre to reduce weight from the standard car’s 1.4-tonne kerb weight.
It will make its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and in all likelihood carry a limited production which is expected to be sold out even before the raging bull makes an official announcement.
