      Ford Shines With 2011 Mustang and New Fiesta

      Ford’s product portfolio is shimmering with its two new launches which are lauded by car buyers and auto critics equivocally. Ford has launched new 2011 Mustang and Fiesta models at the LA Auto Show.

      Ford people are excited about their latest Ford Fiesta model that made its debut yesterday. It will be offered both as 4-door and 5-door configurations. The new Fiesta marks Ford’s re-entry in the sub-compact market with a model good enough to lure the young car buyers. It aggressively features European styling and bright colors. The model is already highly successful in overseas market and is the second biggest seller in Europe. Ford expects the new model to be equally popular in the US market as well. 

      Ford also launched 2011 Mustang model with 305 hp and six-cylinder engine. The new model comes with six speed auto transmission and fully designed air-intake system. Ford Mustang promotes fuel economy. The car will go into production early next year and will compete head to head with Chevrolet Camaro.

      Volkswagen Up!

      Volkswagen’s new model Up! is definitely one of the star performers at the Auto Show. It has been showcased still as a concept model and is nowhere near to production but the new model with 13 bhp electric motor definitely shows Volkswagen’s insight into the future. It claims emissions of just 65g/km and fuel consumption nudging 42.51 kmpl.

      Honda P-NUT Concept

      Japanese car maker Honda also revealed its latest innovation Personal Neo-Urban Transport or P-NUT Concept model. The three-passenger car features a center driving configuration bundled with a rear engine layout. Considering the small car design, there is surprisingly enough leg room for rear passengers as two rear seats flank the center driving position. The Honda Personal-Neo Urban Transport design study model is a futuristic concept that has been built with a minimal footprint to make it easy to maneuver in city centers.

      Porsche Boxster Spyder

      Porsche revealed the light weight version of the Boxster – 2011 Boxster Spyder that goes on sale in the American market from February 2011. with a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection. Output is 320 horsepower, 10 hp more than the Boxster S. It also features PDK transmission, a new sport suspension that lowers the Boxster Spyder 0.8 inch, a lower center of gravity and a standard limited-slip differential, as well as exclusive wheels. The model showcased at the LA Auto Show is complete production model that will hit the roads next year.

      Audi R8 Spyder

      Audi introduced its new R8 Spyder model first at the LA Auto Show as the US still remains the most popular market so far for the Audi cars. It features the 5.2L V10 engine that currently powers Lamborghini and accelerates from 0-100 kmph in flat 4.0 seconds and reaches top speed of 313 kmph. The soft-top opens and closes in just 19 seconds even at driving speed of 50kmph.

      Hyundai Tucson and Sonata

      Hyundai unveils its latest compact SUV Tucson that competes with Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape. It hits the US market later this month and the model displayed at the Auto Show is production ready model which is lighter than its predecessors and comes with tighter turning radius. An "Eco Indicator" has been added to the automatic transmission models, allowing the driver to visually maintain a fuel-efficient driving pattern. Hyundai says if you pay attention to the device, your fuel economy could improve between 15-17 percent.

      Hyundai also introduced US variant of its sedan Hyundai Sonata. The car be called as i40 in the European markets. The US variant comes with three types of power units for the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata, regular, turbo and hybrid. Hyundai also plans to introduce a turbocharged version of the above engine that offers more power but will not affect fuel- efficiency of the car.
