Renault’s new small car, the Kwid has begun to make a difference in the A-segment hatchbacks within a quarter of its launch. The Kwid has managed to outsell Hyundai’s compact hatch Eon while the Alto still is far from being disturbed from its top slot in the sales charts.

Renault had surprised everyone by unveiling the Kwid concept at the Auto Expo 2014. The Kwid was launched in the Indian market in September 2015 and has picked up pace by selling more than 5,000 units in both October and November. Renault registered a sale of 6,888 cars in December.

Hyundai Eon, on the other hand, has been selling steadily over six thousand units a month in the last quarter with 7,154 units sold in November. The Nano, in the same segment has been selling an average of two thousand units a month in the last quarter. The Maruti Alto (K10 and 800 combined) has sold 22,589 units, almost twice the number of Kwids and Eons sold.

The overall sales in the A-segment of hatchbacks seem to have improved in the last quarter over the previous one. The Maruti Alto and the Hyundai Eon both sold about two thousand units more per month along with the sales of the Kwid added during the last quarter.
