Renault’s SUV, the Koleos has been in the market internationally since 2008 and is in need of a replacement. The French carmaker kicked off the teaser campaign of the much anticipated Koleos-replacement just in time before next week’s Beijing Auto Show.

Renault showcased a first glimpse of its new large SUV in a teaser video posted on media channels. The video shows the new car to have full LED headlights which resemble those of other Renaults – like the Megane and Talisman. Even though the new SUV is expected to be much larger than the current Koleos, it will be sold exclusively as a five-seater. Renault believe that there aren’t enough families out there with four kids to create a market big enough for a version with a third row of seats. Inside, we expect Renault to equip it with a massive portrait-style touchscreen for the R-Link 2 infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.

Engines and gearboxes will be sourced by Renault from its sister company’s Nissan X-Trail and the new high-riding model will also borrow most of its hardware from the same car. Renault's design chief Laurens van den Acker was quoted earlier saying that “essentially we have made a Renault version of the X-Trail.”

Renault will launch the Koleos replacement in Beijing next week seeing as that’s going to be the SUV’s main market and is going to be produced locally. Besides China, we know Renault has plans to sell this model in Australia, Asia, and Europe.
