Koenigsegg had unveiled the Regera hypercar at Geneva in 2015 to take over the hypercars of the world. The Swedish car maker claimed it to be the fastest accelerating car limited only to 80 examples to be built. In less than two years, the almost $2 million (Rs 13 crore approximately) priced Koenigsegg had already sold half its stock by March 2016 and the remaining 40 cars have also been sold out. So if you had been waiting to decide if the Regera would be the ideal car for your million dollar garage, you have run out of time!

The Koenigsegg Regera was limited to a top speed of 410kmph and managed to hit 400kmph from zero in just 20 seconds. The zero to 100kmph dash took only 2.7 seconds and it hit 200kmph in less than 6.6 seconds and was on its way to 300kmph in just 10.9 seconds. This mindboggling performance is a result of an 1800bhp hybrid powertrain that combines a 5.0-litre turbo-petrol that develops 1100bhp of power with three electric motors having a combined output of 700bhp.

The powertrain is cradled in carbon-fibre titanium chassis and as a whole, the car weighs just 1420kg dry. The light weight is also a result of the genius Direct Drive system developed by Koenigsegg which uses a starter-generator to replace the entire gearbox making the Regera a single-speed car. To manage such high speeds, it gets hydraulically operated active aerodynamics controlled by the computers that monitor the cars stability a thousand times a second.
