Kinetic Engineering Ltd, a Pune based auto maker, said on Tuesday that it is in talks with the Indian auto giant Tata Motors for establishing an assembly unit in Gujarat’s Sanand, in order to supply components for the popular small car Tata Nano.

Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of an event organized by FICCI, Kinetic Engineering Vice Chairperson Sulajja Firodia Motwani, said, "We had discussed with Tata Motors about a potential assembly unit at Sanand. As far as I know the discussions are still on but we have not gone ahead with it. We have been able to meet all the demand from our current factory."

It is to be mentioned here that Kinetic Engineering Ltd supplies gears and shafts to Tata Motors for its small car Nano, from its Ahmednagar facility. The company has leading auto makers as its customers in the Indian market including Mahindra Group, Tata Motors, Piaggio and Cararo. Kinetic is planning to launch new products for Piaggio and Mahindra Navistar, in coming 2 to 3 months.

While further elaborating the company’s future plans, Motwani added that the company has two very important programmes which are ready to roll out. One is gearbox for Piaggio's Ape Druk, which is on a new engine platform and the other is a completely new assembled gearbox for Mahindra Navistar trucks which again is expected to start in 2012.
