In a formal announcement by Kia, the carmaker has named its upcoming vehicle the Carens. And the moniker is actually short for ‘car and renaissance’ that is defined as “whole new era of cars”. That said, this brand-new seven-seat Kia will be making its Indian debut on 16 December 2021. Meanwhile, the Carens launch is due in Q1 of 2022.

The Carens is going to be the fourth model offered by the South Korean carmaker after the Seltos, Carnival and the Sonet. What is more, it will be based on the brand’s popular Seltos. However, the Carens will be longer to accommodate the third-row seats. Moreover, going by the teaser video released by the company, this upcoming vehicle will feature a unique exterior design, especially the face. Meanwhile, Kia will produce the car at its Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh.

On the inside, the Carens is very likely to get a digital driver display, an infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the UVO connect, wireless charger, leatherette or leather upholstery, premium sound system, an electronic sunroof and suchlike. Besides, Kia is expected to offer a choice of six and seven-seat layout options.

On the occasion, Tae-Jin Park, Managing Director and CEO, Kia India, said, “We are really excited to bring our fourth product for the Indian market, the Kia Carens. Kia wants to offer a premium and comfortable family RV that has a three-row seating configuration and features fitting in perfectly with India’s urban lifestyle and road conditions.”
