Kawasaki has updated one of the two remaining models in its lineup that needed a model update - the Ninja 1000. It has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 9.98 lakh, ex-showroom India.

The update adds a lot of features to the sport-touring model, first of which is sharper, more aggressive styling, which makes it more worthy of the 'Ninja' moniker. LED headlamps that offer more illumination while consuming half the power are now present on it. The windshield is taller and the fairing wider, to offer better wind protection.

Also on the list of changes are a new instrument cluster, which retains an analog tachometer. The multi-function digital display now shows a lot more information thanks to the addition of the Kawasaki Cornering Management Function, which oversees the traction control and ABS to make the motorcycle easier to handle in a corner. Essentially it is a six-axis IMU system that now imparts intelligent traction control and ABS that work well even when leaned over. The Indian market will also be happy to know that seat height has reduced to 815mm, 5mm less than before.

At that price, there really isn't much competition for the Ninja 1000. The Suzuki GSX-S1000F, the nearest actual competitor, is well over Rs 2 lakh more, ex-showroom.
