      Kamal Basu: Skodas new Marketing Head

      Kamal Basu has joined Skoda Auto India as its Marketing Head. He will head the company’s marketing and communication department and also be responsible for strengthening Skoda’s brand image. Along with these responsibilities he will also have to build a strong image of the Skoda models sold in Indian auto market. Prior to Skoda, Basu was working as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Saatchi & Saatchi.

      Basu, in high spirits said, “At Saatchi & Saatchi, I was actively involved in designing campaigns for the brand and have had the privilege to work on the recent launch of the Rapid in India. I am honoured to now lead Skoda Auto India’s marketing and communications function and play an integral part in the brand’s journey in India.”

      Thomas Kuehl, board member and director, sales and marketing at Skoda Auto India gladly said that, “Skoda recently completed ten glorious years in India and it has been a great experience so far. To continue this momentum and effectively establish our new corporate identity - ‘Simply Clever’, we are pleased to appoint Basu as the marketing head.” He further added that the company has complete confidence in Basu’s potential.

      Basu graduated in Commerce from Sydenham College Mumbai. He collected his marketing management degree from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and joined Ogilvy India in 1992 where he worked for eight years. Later, in 2000 he joined Saatchi & Saatchi as Executive Vice-President, Mumbai and became Chief Executive Officer of the company in 2008.
