      JLR likely to introduce electric models, files trademark applications

      Popular luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has reportedly filed trademark applications for the I-Type, I-Pace and Velar. Two of the models are expected to be electric models of which, the first one to be introduced would be an SUV. Sources have indicated that the SUV could likely be named as the I-Pace and may likely borrow styling cues from the C-X75 hypercar.

      Detailed information on the technical aspect is not known for now and more details maybe revealed in the upcoming Paris Motor Show. As stated by sources, the vehicle get an electric motor mounted on each corner and it is capable of covering a distance of around 482.80 kms. The all-electric I-Pace SUV may be up on sale by 2017. The SUV could likely emerge as a strong rival against electric versions coming from Audi Q6 e-tron, Volvo XC90 electric and Tesla Model X that may likely be introduced in 2019.

      The I-Type is believed to be based on all-electric version of the F-Type sportscar. Sources have further indicated that the company may also introduce all electric versions of the XJ and XE sedans. More details about the upcoming models may be known at the time of upcoming Paris Motor Show that is due in October.
