      Jeep recalls 1,200 units of Compass SUV over passenger airbag safety issue

      One thousand two hundred units (about 1 per cent) of the Jeep Compass have been recalled by the company for the replacement of the front passenger airbag. Jeep stated that during the airbag module assembly process, loose fasteners might have found their way undetected in the affected units. In the event of front passenger airbag deployment during an impact, the loose fasteners may pose a hazard.

      Although there are no reported injuries, accidents, warranty claims or complaints due to the problem, the company has advised customers from the affected range to refrain from using the front passenger seats till the problem is resolved. Replacement of the front passenger airbag in the affected units of the Jeep Compass will be done free of cost.

      FCA India and its dealers will be contacting the customers of the affected vehicles to confirm appointments at its authorized workshops.
