The Jeep Compass has been launched in India at Rs 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is being offered in India across three trims, five colours and two engine options of which only the petrol gets an AT option. We have already driven the car and you read our review here.
This new five-seater SUV will mark the beginning of the Jeep’s India line-up and sits well below the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep Compass is the first in the three cars planned for India and is offered in the Sport, Latitude and Limited trims with optional extras offered on Latitude and Limited.
The Compass gets 16-inch steel wheels, five-inch touchscreen infotainment system, halogen headlamps, front airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, ABS and EBD, all four disc brakes, electric parking brake, electric ORVMs and all-black interiors as standard. The top-spec trim gets an 8-inch display screen, ski-grey interior and scuff plates along with 17-inch alloys.
The Compass in India has two engine options – the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the 2.0-litre turbodiesel. The Multi-air four-cylinder petrol engine develops over 160bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre diesel is also an inline-four cylinder engine and develops over 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The petrol can be had with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual dry-clutch automatic transmission while the diesel is only offered with the six-speed MT. AWD is offered only on the top-spec trim and you can opt for the Selec-Terrain Traction management system that includes different drive modes as well.
