Jeep Grand Cherokee soon to be launched in India

What can be termed as one of the most exciting developments for a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) lover, Fiat owned auto maker Jeep is all set to launch the Grand Cherokee, one of its most award winning models. The time frame for the introduction of the Cherokee has not been decided upon yet, although it is widely expected to be launched during the festive season. A flagship model of Jeep in all probability will generate a tremendous buzz in the Indian auto market, where the SUV segment has been growing steadily.

According to the industry experts, the Cherokee is likely to be successful in the northern part of India, a region where a high number of SUVs can be spotted. This car can be considered as an apt representation of the kind of expertise and experience the manufacturer possesses, which has resulted in the development of a complete vehicle suitable for all conditions. Be it the engine, braking, acceleration, appearance, performance or safety, Jeep has managed to inculcate everything and put together a truly wonderful car.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be equipped with a turbocharged 3-litre engine, which is a V6 Ecodiesel unit capable of generating an output of 240 bhp at 3600 rpm. The engine of this SUV will be mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. The overall length of this model will be 4822 mm long with a kerb weight of 2336 kg. Heated leather seating, 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and touch screen entertainment system are some of its key highlights.

Along with these, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has a high number of safety features, such as forward collision warning, full length side curtain airbags, blind spot monitoring and hill ascent and descent control. However, the Indian version of this vehicle might not include all these security facilities. Boasting of a wide range of features, the interiors of the Grand Cherokee are sure to leave an impression on buyers. The plush interiors of this SUV include luxurious padding on seats, dual zone air conditioning system, leather wrapped steering wheel and cabin air filtration. According to industry experts, the Grand Cherokee looks like a winner in terms of its appearance with a new tailgate at the rear, LED lighting, dual exhaust tips and large Jeep badges.

Jeep, a brand of Chrysler Group LLC, is also planning to launch the Wrangler, which is considered to be one of the best off-roaders in the world. Two models of the Jeep Wrangler will be available in the Indian market, one with 3.6 litre petrol engine and two doors, while the other with 2.8 litre diesel engine in two door and four door variants. The petrol model will have a 5-speed manual gearbox, whereas the diesel models will be equipped with a 5-speed automatic one.
