      Jeep coming to India next year, Wrangler to be launched first

      Rumours have been doing the rounds for long now on the launch time of Jeep brand in India. In 2013, Jeep’s launch was being highly anticipated, however Fiat clarified that they did not intend to bring Jeep to domestic market amid such sluggish conditions. However, in a new development, Mike Manley, President and CEO of Jeep has confirmed launch of Jeep brand in India by 2015. Among the first two products, Wrangler will be rolled out first followed by Grand Cherokee. Jeep plans on bringing these two vehicles as completely built units to the Indian market. Local assembling could be contemplated depending on response received by the twoSUVs. Other products from Jeep’s global portfolio like Renegade could also be brought to India. Renegade if launched in India could be priced under Rs 20lakh, in the D segment, the SUV will face off with Honda CR-V and MINI Countryman D.

      After a long gap, Indian automotive market witnessed slight increase in sales in the month of May, 2014. The car makers in India are hopeful that things will get better in the coming months. Therefore, Fiat might have thought on expediting Jeep launch in the domestic souk.Currently the auto maker is gearing up to launchfaceliftedPuntoin India. Other than this,Avventuracrossover and 500Abarthare also slated to be launched in domestic market in 2014. Hopefully, Fiat might taste long awaited success in India with launch of these new products.
