The Consumer Reports' ratings of the best and worst automobile brands has finally arrived and as expected points out some major eye balling results. For instance, the auto firms who made the 'Best Automobile Brands' list featured eight Japanese players alone in the top ten. The report has been devised by taking into account the consumer feedback towards the makers of their vehicles, which was recorded in a survey.

In contrast to the number of Japanese car makers in the 'Best Automobile Brands' category, the American firms dominated the 'Worst Automobile Brands' list. The American auto giant, Ford Motor Company ended up second on the worst list, which was headed by the Tata Motors' subsidiary and British luxury sports car maker - Jaguar. The other American listers included Ford's luxury brand -Lincoln (third), Ram (fourth), Dodge (fifth), Chrysler (sixth), Buick (eighth) and Jeep (tenth). Among the surprising names were that of BMW owned MINI at seventh spot, while makers of the world's safest cars, the Swedish auto maker Volvo was placed at ninth overall.

Coming to the winners of the Consumer Reports' chart of 'Best Automobile Brands' category, it is Japan engineering everywhere. Heading the list was Scion, Toyota's brand for its small cars in America, while the parent company finished second on the list. Interestingly, Toyota's other brand - Lexus finished third and rounded off the top positions. The top ten list featured several other Japanese players, such as Mazda (fourth), Subaru (fifth), Honda (sixth), Acura - Honda's brand (seventh) and Nissan Motor Company's luxury car brand Infiniti at the ninth place. For those missing the German automobile marques can heave a sigh of relief as Volkswagen owned Audi finished eighth overall, besides the Korean auto giant Hyundai's Kia Motors rounded off the top 10.
