Jaguar XJ has been a popular selling model around the globe for half a century now. To mark the milestone achievement, Jaguar has introduced the special edition model, called the XJ50 at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show. Changes are limited to cosmetic upgrades, while mechanically it continues to be powered by the existing engine.
To distinguish the Jaguar XJ from the regular model, it gets blackened front grille mesh and vents, along with a set of new 20-inch double five spoke alloy wheels. The rear and the side vents get the unique XJ50 badging. The premium sedan is available in four colour options - fuji white, santorini black, loire blue and rosello red. Under the hood, the XJ50 is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox which powers the rear wheels to generate 296bhp of power. The vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just about 5.9-seconds.
Step inside and one will find a two-tone leather upholstery with soft-grain diamond-quilted seats. It also features Jaguar logos embossed on the headrests and an XJ50 logo on the centre armrest and unique XJ50 treadplates. To further up the style quotient, the XJ50 gets anodised gearshift paddles.
The jaguar XJ50 is available in both regular and long wheelbase versions. The special ediion model is available in the UK at a starting price of £74,280 (approx Rs 69.33 lakhs).
