Jaguar Cars, a subsidiary of the Indian auto giant Tata Motors, on Tuesday launched XKR special edition luxury sedan in the Indian market. The new XKR special edition is offered at a price tag of Rs 1.27 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The car is powered by a 5.0 litre direct-injection V8 petrol engine which is coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. The highly advanced transmission system of the car offers manual driver control via steering-wheel mounted paddles.
In a statement released on the occasion, the company said, "New XKR special edition models are available to order now in both coupe and convertible form from July 2012. The special edition models introduce enhancements to the XK's already luxurious hand-crafted cabin in addition to discreet exterior changes."
In June 2012, Jaguar Land Rover sales increased by 39 percent over the same period last year to 28,215 units. While sales of Jaguar cars dipped 5 percent, Land Rover sales surged 49 percent during this month.
