Though most passenger vehicle makers in India and the world are struggling to achieve sales targets, luxury manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover posted an increase of 12 per cent to 16 per cent during April 2013. The figure achieved by the luxury vehicle manufacturer for global sales, was 28,503 units, which was an increase of 12 per cent from April 2012. In the first four months of 2013, Jaguar Land Rover sold 1,43,974 vehicles, up by 16 per cent from the same period last year.
Looking at the region-wise breakup of sales in April 2013, it appears that figures were up for every major region. Asia Pacific increased by 37 per cent, UK by 32 per cent and China Region rose by 10 per cent. In addition, sales figures in North America increased by 6 per cent, Europe by 2 per cent and other overseas markets by 11 per cent, the last figure included India which rose by 6 per cent. A similar trend was noticed during the first four months of 2013, as sales in Asia Pacific, UK, China, North America, Europe and other overseas markets increased by 21 per cent, 20 per cent, 18 per cent, 13 per cent, 8 per cent and 22 per cent, respectively.
Speaking on the positive trend this year, Phil Popham, Jaguar Land Rover’s Director of Group Sales Operations, said, “This is a positive start to our second quarter sales and continues the growth trend seen in the first three months of the year.” He further added, “Sales of the Jaguar XF remain buoyant across many of our key markets and we are seeing the positive impact of the all new Range Rover with approaching 15,000 cars sold in the first four months of this year.”
Both Jaguar and Land Rover recorded strong performances for individual vehicles as well. While All Wheel Drive (AWD) and Sportbrake derivatives of the Jaguar XF did well, the Freelander Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was particularly successful for Land Rover.
