      Jaguar Land Rover records sales growth of 157 per cent in India

      During the previous fiscal, Jaguar Land Rover India recorded impressive sales of 2288 units, marking a growth of 157 per cent as against 891 units in FY 2010-2011. The company recorded sales figures of 226 units during the financial year 2009-2010. During the previous fiscal, Jaguar Land Rover India expanded its car portfolio in Indian market with the launch of widely renowned Range Rover Evoque and the 2012 model range of Jaguar that includes XJ, XF and the XK. Following with league, the company also launched the most powerful and the fastest sports car ever built by Jaguar, the XKR-S.

      During May 2011, the company assembled its first Land Rover Freelander 2 in India, which was rolled out from its Pune manufacturing unit. The car assembled at the Indian unit was highly appreciated in the market and, thus, expanded the sales of company with a growth rate of more than 400 per cent as compared to 2010-2011.

      Rohit Suri, Head, Premier Car Division, Jaguar Land Rover India, told, “This fantastic sales achievement, has been achieved by introducing new products, increasing our reach through dealership expansion and enhancing customer sales and after sales experience. Since we started our Indian operations in mid 2009, the awareness of the Jaguar and Land Rover brands has increased significantly and this has resulted in customers eagerly wanting to experience our products. The reaction from these customers has been extremely positively. We will continue our quest and introduce more new and exciting products to advance our strategy and increase our share of the Indian luxury car market.”

      The Indian car portfolio of Jaguar includes the XJ, XF, XFR, XKR and the recently added XKR-S. As far as Land Rover is concerned, it includes Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque and Freelander 2 (assembled at the Pune unit). The Indian dealership network of Jaguar Land Rover has substantially grown and currently stands at 15 outlets in 13 cities; the company further plans to expand its dealership network in 2012.
