Jaguar, the British car maker owned by the Tata Motors Group, has come a long way as it started off by selling passenger side-cars for motorcycles in 1920s. The automobile giant, known for its luxury sports cars, has shied away from the SUV market since a long time, finally breaking the barrier when it announced the Jaguar C-X17 in 2013. The concept car unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor show was Jaguar’s first attempt at a crossover vehicle. The concept car featured an all-new 2-litre 4 cylinder petrol engine and was built on an aluminium monocoque structure.

Recently, Jaguar unveiled its first crossover to go on sale, named F-pace, based on the C-X17 concept. With F-Pace, the auto maker has tried to hit the ‘ultimate sweet spot’ between an SUV and a sports car. This will be the first SUV/crossover to be released by Jaguar in its long history. The car was finally revealed to the world through a wonderfully made teaser video released on the official Jaguar website. Set in the city of Detroit, the teaser shows the car moving across the city during the night-time. A light beam is shown tracking the car’s path through the city while the music playing in the background builds up the tension. A final head shot shows the new sports car’s moniker formed by the beam.

The exteriors of the car look almost similar to the concept, C-X17. The car is expected to be the same size as the C-X17 and would be around 4.72m long and 1.65m tall. F-pace makes a bold statement with its dominating and buff front fascia, but at the same time can retain a sleek profile. The exact engine specifications have not been unveiled yet, but if the speculations and rumors are to be believed, the car will come equipped with a 3.0 litre supercharged 4-cylinder V6 engine with an expected power output of at least 250 bhp.

The F-Pace will be competing against Porsche Macan and BMW X4 for its share of the market and will go on sale by early 2016. The crossover by Jaguar will be retailed somewhere at a price of around £40,000. You can check it out on the following link:
