British sports carmaker Jaguar is about to expand its crossover range by introducing the E-Pace. This new baby crossover will join the F-Pace as Jaguar prepares to fully unveil it next month.

Like the F-Pace, the smaller E-Pace promises to combine sports car design with everyday practicality and a bit of soft roading, thanks to AWD and a fairly high ground clearance. The E-Pace follows on from the F-Pace which helped boost Jaguar’s sales by 83 per cent last year and the all-electric I-Pace concept which will go into production in 2018.

Not much is known about the E-Pace as far as the mechanical bits are concerned. That being said, the vehicle will make use of the same set of petrol and diesel units from Jaguar-Land Rover’s Ingenium engine range. Also found in the new Discovery Sport and the Evoque, these engines will also be offered as hybrid powertrains in the E-Pace.

The F-Pace is attracting a huge demand globally. The smaller E-Pace, then, ideally should generate enough volumes for Jaguar to make a serious impact in the compact crossover market.
