Renault is reworking its entire global portfolio and the latest one on the block is the new Megane Grand Coupe. As the name suggests, it is based on the Megane’s CMF architectural platform and will be the new Renault Fluence in India.

The previous Fluence was the sedan version of the third generation Megane. The fourth-gen Megane sedan continues to sport the futuristic fascia of the new breed of Renaults. The headlamps along with the horizontally four-slatted grille make up for the quirky front. While the side profile is not as dramatic, the tail is certainly one of the prettiest to look at. It gets a panoramic glass sunroof extending between the windscreens giving the car a distinct two-tone look.

The Megane sedan seems to be longer than the current Fluence, which means better cabin space and gets 508 litres of boot space. The interior is futuristic especially with a giant tablet in the centre console that controls everything from climate control, vehicle settings and infotainment. The instrument cluster is also a TFT colour display that reads out vehicle speed, engine revs and all the required information with a toggle of a switch.

The Fluence is a D-segment car and with this kind of looks, Renault will certainly target the Octavias and the Jettas along with the Hyundai Elantra and Chevrolet Cruze. Which means there are likely chances that it will be powered by the TCe 130 petrol engine and the dCi 130 diesel engine. The TCe 130 is a turbocharged four-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine that develops close to 130bhp of power and 205Nm of torque and may be offered with the seven-speed dual clutch automatic option along with the six-speed manual. The dCi 130, which is a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel, also develops similar power but has 320Nm of torque and comes with a six-speed manual gearbox.
