Sports enthusiasts in India have been offered with plethora of reasons to celebrate limitlessly, in the past few years, as the country has started an intensive drive in order to dominate coveted positions in every arena, of which one is sports. Formula One, the gigantic car racing event is spreading its wings like never before, as for the first time it would be surfaced in India.

The all-new facility, named as Buddh International Circuit, which would carry out the proceedings, has been developed in Greater Noida and the event has been scheduled to flag-off on 28th October and would go on till 30th October. For the Formula One Airtel Grand Prix of India, the Greater Noida track has been homologated on 1st September, 2011.

Track and Project details

The total area covered by the circuit is 5.14 km and it is 24 km away from New Delhi. The track has been laid down over an area of 900 acres. The renowned Jaiprakash Associates has been roped in for a 10-year contract for the prestigious race. The racing arena will have a capacity of about 2,00,000 people. Speculations are rife that the same track will be used for another championship during 2012. There have been skilled minds of many international car racing teams that have made the construction of the track possible. The track has been designed by the celebrated circuit architect Hermann Tilke.

There are 16 largely medium speed corners and cars are expected to attain an average speed of 210 kmph. Further back straight will make F1 cars to experience a thrilling 320 kmph speed, making this track one of the fastest tracks in the world.

Connectivity

The circuit has been set-up, focussing immensely upon the connectivity factor and ensuring that the venue can be accessed with least interruptions. Transport facilities, to reach the venue, can be availed from all around the place.

As far as Delhi is concerned, it is well connected with every corner of India, primarily through airways and railways. Indira Gandhi International Airport has added a new terminal, Terminal 3, within its premises that can handle 35 million passengers per year.
