India is all set to become the second largest market for Yamaha by the end of this year right after Indonesia. In the current condition, the country is at the third position with a gap of only 16000 models behind Vietnam, which has a rapidly declining market. This has paved the path for India becoming second in terms of market of Yamaha.

The popular manufacturing company recently declared its third quarter results last week in Japan, where it was revealed that Indonesia was poised at the top with whopping sales of 1.89 million units. This figure was a cumulative study of the sales figure between the months of January to September. Vietnam was second in position with respect to this study with 4.39 lakh units. India, which has leaped forward in this race, was a close third with sales of nearly 4.23 units. At the fourth position was Thailand, way behind India at 1.58 lakh units. As a result, the numbers clearly revealed the fact that India was closing in the gap with Vietnam and all set to overtake the country in respect of sales of Yamaha models.

India has shown a stellar growth as shown by the statistical study of previous years. In 2012, the January to September sales reflected a total count of 2.47 units. In 2013, the number climbed a fair notch to 3.3 lakh units during the same period. The steady growth was maintained in 2014 as reflected by the 4.23 lakh unit sales in the January to September duration. On the other hand, Vietnam has shown a steady decline according to the statistical studies. The 2012 study revealed a sale of 6.3 lakh units totally during the January-September interim. In 2013, the number dropped to 5.64 units. The year 2014 show a rapid decline, with the number falling down to 4.39 lakh units. Growing by this rate, it will just take a month more for India to surge ahead of Vietnam and occupy the second position.

Despite everything, the popularity of Yamaha in Indonesia remains at the same position as it was two years ago. The country has shown an average of 2.6 million unit sales on an annual basis for the last three years. India will look forward to bridge the gap, once they get hold of the second position. Also the commissioning of the second production plant in Chennai will also lead to the further boost in sales numbers.
