Vazirani Shul, the country’s first electric hypercar was showcased in Mumbai today. The hypercar from Vazirani Automotive gained fame earlier this year when it was first unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of speed. Co-founder and designer Chunky Vazirani has built the Vazirani Shul with inputs from Michelin and the Force India F1 team. Interestingly, Chunky Vazirani has worked as a designer for brands such as Land Rover, Volvo, Yamaha, Jaguar and the Rolls-Royce.

The electric hypercar will be powered by four electric motors which are placed beside the wheel to provide fully independent torque vectoring. The microturbine will power the batteries. Similar to the BMW i8, the Vazirani Shul is underpinned by a structurally rigid yet lightweight carbon-fibre tub chassis. To deliver peak performance, the Vazirani Shul has been designed with the help of a wind tunnel for minimal drag. Given that the vehicle has been designed for outright sportscar-like responses, it gets its brakes from Brembo.

The battery pack in the Vazirani Shul weighs about 300kgs and takes up space in the central tunnel for optimum weight distribution. Although the Vazirani Shul has been designed and developed in California, it is essentially a product from a car company with Indian roots.
