We witnessed a couple of big launches in India in the first week of August and will witness two more big launches in the coming week. Two major auto giants of domestic market, Tata Motors and Hyundai India will roll out their respective offerings. From the stables of Tata Motors all new Zest compact sedan will be rolled out after a long gap of five years. On the other hand Hyundai will spin off latest version of its premium B+ segment hatchback, Hyundai i20- Elite.

These launches are slated a day apart from each other and will take place on August 11 and August 12 respectively. Hyundai will launch all new i20 Elite on August 11 and Zest will finally go on sale a day after on August 12. Vouched to be bigger, classier and styled better, the all new Hyundai i20 is now christened, i20 Elite.

Hyundai has also discontinued the previous version and has also removed the vehicle from its official website. What makes this launch extravagant is the fact that the new version i20 is making its global debut in India and this makes India the first country to get the all new i20 Elite. Changes made to the new gen i20 include cosmetic tweaks on exteriors and interiors, dimensional changes have also been made however mechanically the hatch remains same. However, it has been learnt from sources that engines have been refined to deliver higher fuel economy. Automatic variant might not be offered for now and base Era trim has also been removed from new i20 range.

Next big launch slated on August 12 is Tata’s Zest compact sedan, despite being a pioneer in compact sedan segment with Indigo eCS, the sedan and auto maker could not reap benefits. However expectations are high from new Zest that clinched galore attention and praise at the 2014 Auto Expo where it was displayed publicly. After a long gap of five years, Tata Motors is launching a new car that is built on its new DesignNext, DriveNext and ConnectNext philosophy.

This is also the first sedan and a diesel engined car in India to get automated manual transmission. From many of first things to be seen in Zest, 1.2 litre Revotron turbo-petrol engine is also included. Stuffed with an array of high end features, Zest is definitely an envious compact sedan that will take on the likes of Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and Hyundai Xcent. Zest is an attempt of Tata Motors to shed off its image of being a conventional auto maker in India.
