Last year in August, Hyundai had launched the powerful India-made i20 N-Sport in the South African market at 265,900 Rand (Rs 11.44 lakh). A report from an automotive website gives out more details on the car’s technical aspect. Along with a better performing engine, the Hyundai i20 N-Sport also comes with a new body kit.

Under the hood, the Hyundai i20 N-Sport is powered by a 1.4-litre four-cylinder 16-valve petrol engine that generates 112bhp of power and 160Nm of torque. The dual continuous variable valve timing technology and multi-point electronic fuel injected engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission. As claimed by the publication, the i20 N-Sport managed to attain a top speed of 190kmph and clocked a 0 to 100 kmph in just about 8.9 seconds, thereby competing strongly against the Fiat Abarth Punto. The average fuel consumption recorded during the test stood at 12.04kmpl.

The Hyundai i20 N-Sport gets a new bodykit consisting of side skirts, front and rear bumper lip spoilers, and a rear spoiler. In addition to the kit, the car also gets graphite finished 17-inch alloy wheels, stainless steel free-flow cat-back exhaust system and N-badges on the front fenders and rear hatchback door. To complete the overall sporty appeal, the car sports a rear boot spoiler and sporty side skirts.

In terms of safety, the i20 N-Sport comes with four-wheel electronic four-channel ABS system along with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). The car comes with stiffer springs for better high speed runs. Though the Hyundai i20 N-Sport has been a decent performer in the international market, its India launch is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
