With up to seven seats and a boot that’s biggest in its class, the Kodiaq is Skoda’s first truly practical SUV. It’s based on VW Group’s MQB platform which features a lot of lightweight chassis components. As a result, the entry-level petrol-powered front-wheel drive variant weighs just 1,452kg. As for dimensions, the Kodiaq is 4,697mm long, 1,882mm wide and 1,676mm tall. Its wheelbase measures 2,791 mm, giving it impressive interior room for up to seven occupants.

The Kodiaq will be offered with up to five engine options – two TDI and three TSI units. The petrol range consists of two 1.4-litre and a single 2-litre unit whereas the diesels are the familiar 2-litre unit in two different state of tunes. The Kodiaq can be had with a 6-speed manual or DSG automatic with six or seven speeds. Skoda will also offer both front and all-wheel drive configuration with different driving modes.

The Kodiaq will be Skoda India’s biggest launch for 2017. The brand, in fact, will introduce it as their flagship offering above the Superb.
