      India bound Ford Ka (Figo) website goes live

      American car maker Ford has started testing Ka hatchback in Brazil, the company has also launched an exclusive website for the vehicle where the prospective customers are asked to provide their basic information. The hatchback was caught on lens during its test run in South America with least camouflage. Ford Ka will be launched in 2014 only, the company has made official announcement regarding the same.

      The concept codenamed B562, made its global debut in Brazil in November 2013. After Ford EcoSport, this is the second production model developed by Ford Brazil. Ford is aiming at emerging automotive markets across the globe, the hatchback may also be launched in India a s a replacement of Figo. Ford could manufacture Ka hatchback in India at its Sanand facility where Figo sedan will also be produced. Production of Figo sedan could commence either by end of 2014 or in the beginning of 2015.

      Brazil-spec Ka hatchback could come with a 1.0 litre, three cylinder, 12 valve motor and a 1.5 litre, four cylinder, 16 valve motor. Both the motors will come with flex fuel capability; however the company has not yet given a nod on the engine line-up yet.

      At the 2014 Auto Expo, Ford had also displayed a sedan based on Ford Ka hatchback. The sedan is being tested in Brazil presently. The Brazil-spec sedan is a bit longer than the India bound sedan, as in India the vehicle will be proffered as a sub-four meter sedan.
