The Audi Q2 will sit at the front of Audi’s SUV line-up in Thailand in has been launched at a price starting at 2.299 million Baht (approx. Rs 54 lakh). The Q2 is the smallest Audi SUV and sits below the Audi Q3 in Audi’s scheme of things.

The Q2 is based on the MQB platform and the styling is typical Audi with the hexagonal grille and the LED DRLs and headlamps. The Q2 is rather small for an SUV, but the styling makes it look butch.

On the inside, the equipment will match the Audi A3, which is why, globally, the A3 and the Q2 sit in the same price segment. The Q2 has a beige interior with power seats in the front, power mirrors and windows and an electrically-operated sunroof. It also has dual-zone climate control along with AC vents for rear passengers. The infotainment system has a display screen and can be controlled via the rotary fob or the steering mounted controls.

Under the hood of the Audi Q2 sits the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, the mainstay of most Audis along with the new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Both engines are mated to seven-speed automatic gearboxes. The Audi Q2 might get all-wheel-drive options in India and the engine options will remain the same as the Thailand car.

The Audi Q2 will sit slightly above the Audi A3 sedan in the Indian market and now that the car has already arrived in Thailand, India launch is not too far away either. Expect a price tag between Rs 28 lakh to Rs 30 lakh for the entry-level trim as it competes with the likes of the Mercedes GLA and the Mini Countryman.
