Jaguar, the British luxury carmaker, has officially unveiled the new-generation XF saloon. The sedan looks like an enlarged XE sedan and compared to the previous model, the new XF is 7mm shorter and 3mm lower. The wheelbase of the car has been increased by 51mm to 2960mm, which results into a class-leading rear seat space.
The Jaguar XF construction comprises of 75 per cent aluminium, which makes the car lighter by 190kgs than the predecessor, while the torsional stiffness has been raised by up to 28 per cent. It is equipped with a double wishbone and integral link suspension setup. As a standard feature, the car has an advanced passive damper technology and optional adaptive dynamics system that automatically detect the optimum damper setting.
The 2016 Jaguar XF will be powered by a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine that offers two states of tunes - 163bhp/380Nm and 180bhp/430Nm. It will also get a twin-turbo V6 3.0-litre producing 300bhp and 700Nm and a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged engine delivering 380bhp and 450Nm. All the engines are coupled to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The entry-level 2.0-litre Ingenium model will also get a specially tuned 6-speed manual transmission.
Inside the cabin, the all-new Jaguar XF features an InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with a 10.2-inch touchscreen display; reconfigurable 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster and 825-watt Meridian digital surround sound system with 17 speakers.
