Hyundai had showcased the all-new Tucson in India at the 2016 Auto Expo event that concluded earlier this year. Ahead of its official launch in India during the festive season this year, pictures of a camouflaged test mule was recently spotted in Brazil. The vehicle sports a striking new design.

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson gets a completely new design. Though the test mule in Brazil was camouflaged, the vehicle does bear resemblance to the one showcased at the Auto Expo. The front sports Hyundai’s signature hexagonal grille that goes on to connect the LED daytime running lights. The big and bold bumper holds the stylish fog lamps and two individual lighting elements. The sides with a sloping roofline gives the SUV a sporty appeal. To complete its aggressive masculine look, the SUV gets accentuated slim tail lights.

As for the interiors, the vehicle gets premium upholstery, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation support and a 4.2-inch driver information display. In terms of safety, the new Hyundai Tucson will get electronic parking brake (EPB), AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking), BSD (Blind Spot Detection), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), eight-way electronically adjustable ventilated front seats, SCL (Static Cornering Lights) and LKAS (Lane Departure Warning System with Lane Keep Assist).

Globally, under the hood, Hyundai has been offering two petrol options - 1.6-litre GDI which generates 135bhp of power and a 1.6 T-GDI which generates 176bhp of power. The diesel is offered in three options – a 1.7-litre engine which generates 115bhp, a 2-litre standard power which generates 184bhp and a 2-litre high power unit. The vehicle is offered in manual and seven speed dual-clutch automatic transmission option.

In India, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson will be positioned between the Creta and the Santa Fe. It is anticipated that the upcoming SUV will be priced between Rs 18 – 24 lakh. This will be Hyundai’s second attempt to introduce the Tucson brand in India. The first generation model was launched in India in 2005, which did not evoke good customer interest and had to be discontinued soon. The new third-generation model is expected to help the brand mark a presence in this segment.
