Images of China bound Suzuki Alivio have appeared on the inter-web. What interests us about Alivio is the fact that it will be sold in India as Ciaz sedan. Alivio sedan is expected to be launched in Chinese automotive market by the end of this year, however India-spec Ciaz is likely to break cover before September this year. Maruti Suzuki India showcased Ciaz in concept form at the 2014 Auto Expo held in Greater Noida earlier this year.

The recent images reveal that production version of Ciaz is hardly different from the concept form shown in February. Front fascia gets flared head lamps and a rectangular shaped chrome grille. Side profile of the vehicle implies that it could possess increased length as compared to other cars in its segment.

Some of the similarities could be seen in the interiors with other Maruti badged cars including flagship Swift, Dzire and Ertiga in the form of steering wheel and indicator/wiper stalks.

Maruti Suzuki India will roll out new Ciaz sedan in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is likely to be borrowed from the one currently doing duty in Ertiga. The 1.4 litre, four cylinder gasoline engine could be equipped in the petrol variants. Diesel trims on the other hand might be housed with the robust 1.3 litre, Multijet engine sourced from Fiat that also powers Swift diesel. Manual transmission will be offered in both petrol and diesel trims, however CVT tranny could be seen in petrol trims.
