Lexus had to shelve its plans of carrying out a promotional campaign meant for its lately manifested LF-LC sports coupe car concept following the car's unofficial images making round on the web.

The company decided to publish only one image of the sports car concept, recently, after U.S. websites ran a shot of car that resembled the concept and the video was produced by U.S. magazine Road & Track. The magazine took-off the video, however various websites managed to grab a screenshot.

According to plans, the car had to break its cover at the Detroit Motor Show next month, and at the outset Lexus was carrying out a teaser campaign to entice the audience and create a buzz before the show.

Media was provided with teaser images that were meant to gain maximum publicity before the unveiling of the car. The image showed a headlight and front guard that inundated the internet one week back, in addition to an interior shot that would be public this week.

The 2+2 coupe indicates an expected replacement for the SC430 coupe that has been on the blink in certain form. The car was manufactured to confront market leaders BMW's 6-Series coupe and Mercedes-Benz's SL.

The image accompanied a statement that read, "Crafted from a clean sheet of paper at the request of Lexus headquarters in Japan, the LF-LC blends both high technology and organic shapes to connect the driver to the machine. The clean lines of the vehicle emphasise motion, creating a distinctive look for this futuristic sport coupe."
