      Hyundai Xcent launch slated for March 12, 2014

      A string of new cars were exhibited at the Asia’s largest auto show, Auto Expo which was held in India last month. Various car makers gave a glimpse of the new cars making debut in the domestic market. Preparations are going on full swing at Hyundai India’s end to officially launch recently showcased compact sedan Xcent onMarch 12, 2014. This is the first offering from Hyundai in the exponentially growing sub-four-meter compact segment. The sedan is conceived on Hyundai i10 hatchback and is said to take design cues both from outside and inside from the popular B segment hatch.

      Xcent will face competition from already popular Amaze from Honda and Dzire from the stable of MSI. Both are very strong contenders, therefore, Korean car maker will have to offer the right combination of features complementing a competitive price tag.

      Just like Swift and Dzire, i10 and Xcent will be sharing striking similarities except the additional boot at the back. Interiors are likely to come loaded with features including rear A/C vents, rear parking sensors, keyless entry with push-button start, USB enabled music system with 1GB internal storage and various others. Features exquisite to high end models include automatic climate control, ABS, dual front airbags, rear parking camera and steering-mounted control among others.

      Being offered in petrol and diesel variants, the compact sedan will come equipped with a 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.1 litre diesel motor. Same set of engines power i10 hatchback too, the 1.2 litre petrol mill is capable of engendering 82 Bhp and 114 Nm. Diesel motor on the other hand pumps a maximum power output of 70 Bhp along with a pinnacle torque of 160 Nm. Xcent will be available in a five speed manual transmission and a four speed automatic transmission will also be offered on petrol trims only.
