The facelifted Hyundai Xcent has been revealed ahead of its launch in the Indian market. This is a mid-life update instituted by the South Korean automaker and sees the sedan getting a major update in terms of appearance. The update for the Xcent comes at a time when all its major rivals have been upgraded or in the case of the segment leader, Maruti Dzire, spawned a completely new generation.

The automaker has completely changed the design of the sedan both at the front and rear. The face of the Xcent has moved from the sporty Grand i10 design to one that matched the design philosophy of the latest Verna and Elantra. It gets a revised headlamp design (with integrated LED DRLs) as well as the large black and silver grille which ups the car’s premium factor. The silhouette remains the same as before in adherence to the rules of compact sedan design, while the rear end now gets large wrap-around lamps which have a wedge shape and extends from the edge of the number plate holder to the sides. Hyundai has also added a black strip on the bumpers as a part of the upgrade.

The update in design of the Xcent is a major step forward for the car. It had been a common grouse that the design of the outgoing model was too bland and that there was hardly any differentiation between the Grand i10 and the Xcent. Now this design brings Hyundai’s smallest four door sedan in line with its other traditional sedan models. This design will also separate the Xcent from the Grand i10 as a distinct model and help it stand out among its rivals, all of which have undergone a major upgrade in the past year.
