India’s largest auto exporter and second largest passenger car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), bagged the top prize at the 45th EEPC INDIA National Awards for export excellence and being the top exporter (large enterprise category) in 2012-13. The award was presented to senior HMIL officials in an award ceremony held in Mumbai by Dr. James S. Mutende, Minister of State for Industry and Technology, Uganda.

Hyundai has been the largest passenger car exporter since 2004 and currently offers its modern premium products in over 120 countries spread throughout the European and non-European markets. With a market share of 45%, Hyundai exported 259,811 cars to diverse markets during the period of 2012-13, indicating a growth of 9.4% in the year. For now, the company exports 40% of its total production output to countries across the European Union, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, Australia and the Asia Pacific. HMIL's fully integrated state-of-the-art manufacturing plant India, which is located near Chennai, is credited to be endowed enough for advanced production, quality and testing capabilities, thus ensuring excellence in products.
