Hyundai Verna sedan is speculated to undergo a facelift, while Russian market has already received tweaked Verna, in India Verna facelift is expected to come by year end. Last comprehensive update was given to the vehicle three years ago in 2011, however with the new City being offered in diesel option sporting various tweaks has swept away all attention. Therefore, to sustain fierce competition Hyundai has decided to give Verna a much needed update. However, following City’s spiralling popularity Hyundai spawned a slightly modified variant of Verna donning reworked alloy wheels, projector head lamps and daytime running lights.
The upcoming facelift is likely to come with several cosmetic upgrades borrowed from ‘Verna RB concept’. Front fascia could get two slat chrome grille, restyled head lights, revitalized lower bumper equipped with redesigned fog lamps. Tweaks will also be extended to rear of the sedan, it is likely that tail lights will be revised sporting LED lights and a reflector could be placed on the lower bumper.
We expect the engine configuration to be retained, current generation Verna comes housed with a 1.4 litre petrol engine that mainly powers entry level trims in the petrol range. High end variants of petrol range are packed with a 1.6 litre engine. A five-speed manual gearbox is mated to the low-spec petrol trims while top spec model is harmonized to a four-speed automatic gearbox. Diesel variants are available in 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre engine options mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Top-spec diesel variant is also offered with four-speed autobox.
Minimal changes are likely to be seen inside the cabin, an-all black centre console and cabin are on cards. To keep the price under affordable range, Hyundai might cut on some features.
